Very nice place. The building is very well managed. Haley has always been great here and so has Craig the maintenance guy here. Everything is taken care of in a timely manner!

What an awesome place to live. The history and architecture alone is cool, but the modern take on it is what elevates this place imo. Highly recommend!

My wife and I have lived at 5th Avenue apartments for almost a year and have loved it so far. However, they are currently going through renovations which will be bumping up our rent significantly which is forcing us to find a new home. We live in their studio apartment which has spectacular finishes with high ceilings and exposed brick and wood throughout. However, understand that you will be paying a significant premium for the unique finishes and the buildings close proximity to the Metra. The amenities include a gym, shared recreation room and a brand new theater room. The gym is small but sufficent. My only grief with the rec room is they charge residents $200 to reserve the room. This results in very few people reserving the room for parties or events. I would recommend dropping the price to $50 or perhaps even just holding a check as security. The new theater is nice but the building does not have any accounts so be prepared to use your own logins to watch movies/shows. We had a bad experience with the internet in the theater as well since our show kept buffering every 2 minutes so we eventually just went back to our apt to finish it. Overall, it is a great place to live if it is within your budget. I am sad to leave.

I lived there 30 years ago when the apartments were brand new. Although the businesses below were still under construction, and sometimes contractors liked to work at night, it was relatively quiet, at least the neighbors were. Trains were not a noise deterrent either because the units were on the front of the building. But, it was wonderful to be able to open the front door, see that that train was coming in and rush to the tracks never having to stand in the cold. Loved having places to eat and socialize downstairs. In fact for many years after I left I would return to eat at the Italian restaurant. I had a friend live in the buikding for at least 15 years until she recently bought her childhood home. It was a wonderful life-style choice for a young person working hard to make ends meet. I wouldn't trade any of that experience. Thumbs up for 5th Avenue Apartments .
